    • BSES urges Delhi residents to switch - off electrical appliances during 'Earth Hour' on Mar 26
      The BSES has appealed to its over 46 lakh consumers and city residents to switch-off their electrical appliances and non-essential lighting fixtures from 8.30 pm to 9.30 pm to observe 'Earth Hour' on Saturday. Earth Hour is a global environmental movement of the World Wildlife Fund (WWF). It started in 2007.

      "Those Learner's License whose validity is going to expire by March 31 has been extended for a period of 2 months i.e., up to May 31. Pls note that this is the last and final opportunity," Gahlot said in a tweet. He also attached a picture of the order issued by his department in this connection.

      Former Jharkhand High Court judge Harish Chandra Mishra has been appointed as the Lokayukta of Delhi. Lieutenant Governor of Delhi Anil Baijal conferred oath to the former judge of Jharkhand High Court on March 23. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was also present at the swearing-in ceremony.

      State-owned Airports Authority of India (AAI) received revenues worth around Rs 13,439 crore from Delhi and Mumbai airports in the last five financial years, according to the civil aviation ministry. Under Public Private Partnership (PPP), Delhi and Mumbai airports were handed over to the private partners in 2006.

      As per Union Health Ministry, 2,531 recovered in the last 24 hours but 67 persons lost their lives due to Covid. Meanwhile, active Covid case in the country further decline to 22,427 (0.05%) while daily positivity rate is now at 0.29%. So far, 4,24,75,588 persons have recovered from Covid while total death toll stands at 5,16,672.The last 24 hours saw a total of 6,61,954 COVID-19 tests being conducted in the country and so far, over 78.49 crore tests have been done. The number of people who have recuperated from the disease has increased to 4,24,75,588, while the case fatality rate has been recorded at 1.20 per cent.India is seeing constant decline in new covid cases and fatality has also reduced significantly. Yesterday the Centre said that states and UTs no longer have to invoke the Diaster Management Act for Covid containment measures. India has also crossed another Covid vaccination milestone of 182 crore vaccinations yesterday.

    • Delhi riots: Umar Khalid's bail plea deferred third time
      Khalid, one of the accused in the conspiracy case, has been booked under the anti-terror law -- Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). The riots broke out in northeast Delhi in February 2020 after clashes between anti-CAA (Citizenship Amendment Act) and pro-CAA protesters took a violent turn. The mayhem, which coincided with then US President Donald Trump's maiden trip to India, saw over 50 people lose their lives and over 700 injured.

      "In 2021-22, Delhi's Gross State Domestic Product (calculated) on current prices was Rs 9,23,967 crore and in last five years it grew by 50 percent as compared to Rs 6,16,085 crore in 2016-17. This shows the strong position of Delhi's economy," Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal said in his address.

      Ranchi (Jharkhand), Mar 22 (ANI): Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Lalu Prasad Yadav is being taken to the AIIMS Delhi from Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Ranchi on March 22 after his health condition worsened. “After the Medical Board reviewed RJD leader Lalu Prasad Yadav's health condition, it was found that he has issues in his heart and kidney. He is being sent to AIIMS Delhi for better treatment. The jail officials will decide (the date),” told RIMS Director Kameshwar Prasad. The Jharkhand High Court on March 11 differed the hearing on the bail plea of Yadav till April 1 in connection with a fodder scam case.
